Judith Kyrinis Remporte un Quatrième Titre National au Championnat Canadien Féminin Mid-Amateur 2025

Kyrinis devance Nonie Marler lors d’un play-off de trois trous pour décrocher les titres Mid-Amateur et Mid-Master; L’équipe de la Colombie-Britannique conserve son titre en compétition inter-provinciale à Lachute

« C’est merveilleux, on ne s’attend pas forcément à vivre ce genre de moment, mais je suis vraiment reconnaissante pour cette opportunité et pour les gens qui m’ont soutenue. Je pense notamment à Liz et Mark Hoffman pour tout ce qu’ils font pour moi, ainsi qu’à ma famille, » a exprimé Kyrinis lors de la cérémonie de remise des prix sur le 18.

Kyrinis a commencé la journée avec un coup de retard sur Marler, qui détenait la tête du classement après les deux premiers tours. Les deux golfeuses ont d’abord fait jeu égal après deux trous, suite à un bogey de Marler. Cependant, Kyrinis a pris l’avantage au 5e trou, après avoir réalisé un birdie tandis que Marler commettait un double-bogey, prenant une avance de deux coups.

« Il restait encore beaucoup de golf à jouer et des occasions pour les golfeuses plus longues d’en profiter, » a expliqué Kyrinis, qui est restée patiente et a su garder son calme malgré des putts qui ne tombaient pas facilement. Le duo a ensuite continué avec cinq pars consécutifs jusqu’au trou 12, où Marler a égalisé la situation avec un birdie, avant que Kyrinis reprenne l’avantage à la 15e suite à un bogey de Marler.

Le dénouement est venu au 18e, où les deux golfeuses se sont retrouvées en play-off après avoir échoué à se départager au terme des 18 trous réguliers. Lors du premier trou du play-off, les deux ont réalisé un bogey, avant que Kyrinis n’assure sa victoire après une erreur de Marler au troisième trou.

« Je voulais simplement faire par, sachant que Nonie avait malheureusement sorti la balle en dehors des limites. Mais je n’avais pas l’intention de me laisser prendre de court, » a ajouté Kyrinis, encore émue de sa victoire.

Judith Kyrinis Wins Fourth National Title at the 2025 Canadian Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship

Kyrinis defeats Nonie Marler in a three-hole playoff to claim both the Mid-Amateur and Mid-Master titles; Team British Columbia retains its Inter-Provincial Team Championship title in Lachute

Kyrinis tapped in for par on the third playoff hole, sealing her victory and securing her fourth Canadian Women’s Mid-Amateur title. She previously won the title in 2016, 2019, and 2023, placing her second on the all-time list, just behind Christina Spence Proteau, who holds six titles.

« It’s wonderful, you don’t really expect to do this kind of thing, but I’m so thankful for the opportunity and for all the people who helped me get here, especially Liz and Mark Hoffman for everything they’ve done for me, and my family, » Kyrinis said following the awards ceremony on the 18th green.

Kyrinis started the day one stroke behind Marler, who held the lead after the first two rounds. The two golfers were tied after two holes following a bogey by Marler. However, Kyrinis took the lead on the 5th hole after carding a birdie while Marler made a double-bogey, taking a two-shot advantage.

« There was still a lot of golf left to play and many opportunities for longer hitters to take advantage, » said Kyrinis, who remained patient and kept her composure despite putts not falling easily. The pair continued with five consecutive pars through hole 11, before Marler made a birdie on hole 12 to draw level with Kyrinis. After a bogey from Marler on hole 15, Kyrinis regained the lead.

The final chapter unfolded on the 18th hole, where both players were tied after the 18 regular holes and headed into a playoff. On the first hole of the playoff, both players made bogey, but Kyrinis secured her win after Marler hit her tee shot out of bounds on the third playoff hole.

« I just wanted to make par, knowing that Nonie unfortunately went out of bounds. But I didn’t want to get caught off guard, » Kyrinis added, still emotional after her victory.
